When one of our customers asks for businesses in a category and area — for example "plumbers in Manchester" — our systems visit the matching public Google Maps listings and record the information those listings show to anyone: business name, category, address, phone number, website, Google Maps link, Plus Code and map coordinates, rating and number of reviews, the breakdown of reviews by star rating, the listing description, opening hours, price level, service options, whether the listing is marked temporarily closed, when it was last updated by its owner, and the date we collected it. We collect only what the public listing displays. We do not collect reviewer names or review text, we do not access anything behind a login, and we do not collect information about your customers.
The source is your public Google Maps listing (Google Business Profile). We do not obtain information from Google under any agreement with Google, and Google is not affiliated with us.
Our customers — sales teams, agencies, recruiters and other businesses — use listing information to identify and contact businesses for business-to-business purposes such as offering services, market research and partnership outreach. Where listing information is personal data (for example when a business is identified by the owner's name), our legal basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR / UK GDPR): the interest of businesses in reaching other businesses through contact details that those businesses have deliberately published in order to be contacted, balanced against the rights of the people concerned and supported by the safeguards described here. You can ask us for a summary of this assessment.
The customer who requested results matching your category and location. Our Terms of Service require customers to use the information lawfully, to comply with the marketing laws of your country (for example rules on unsolicited email and telephone calls), to honour any request you make to stop contacting you, and to delete your details when we tell them you have objected. Customers may not resell the information or publish it as a database.
Our collection engine caches listing information for up to 24 hours. Result files delivered to customers are deleted from our systems 30 days after the scrape completes. If you opt out, we keep a minimal suppression record (your listing's Google Maps identifier) indefinitely so that we can keep excluding it.
You have the right to object to our processing and to have your listing excluded from all future results, to access what we hold about your listing, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to a data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, the authority of your country).
To opt out, email support@mapsharvest.com with the subject "Listing opt-out" and the link to your Google Maps listing (or your business name, address and phone number if you do not have the link). We do not require any proof of identity beyond what is needed to identify the listing. Within 10 days we will:
Opting out with us does not remove your listing from Google Maps or stop other companies from collecting it; it stops MapsHarvest from including it.
